Oreodont Jaw Fossil Piece A rare example of a perfectly preserved jaw from a prehistoric hoglike animal.

Oreodonts, meaning “mountain teeth” or “ruminating hogs”, are an extinct superfamily of prehistoric cud-chewers with short faces and fang-like canine teeth. The animals would have looked rather pig-like, but features of their teeth indicate they were more closely related to camelids (camels).
