Blue John Stone
Exclusive to Jurassic Jacks!
Specially prepared for you, this specimen is from one of the only sites allowed to excavate this semi-precious stone.
Only found in the hills of Derbyshire, Blue John Stone is a semi-precious mineral form of fluorite with bands of purple-blue or yellowish colours.
Mined since the 1700s, the name derives from either the French ‘bleu-jaune’ or from the Cornish word ‘bleujenn’. The stones blue colour may be a physical phenomenon due to crystal lattice rather than mineral impurities.
