Arsinoitherium is an extinct paenungulate mammal related to elephants, sirenians, hyraxes and the extinct desmostylians. Arsinoitheres were rhinoceros-like herbivores that lived during the Late Eocene and the Early Oligocene in areas of tropical rainforest and at the margin of mangrove swamps.

Beautifully detailed scale model of an Arsinoitherium – Meaning: Beast Of Arsinoe.

Arsinoitherium is an extinct paenungulate mammal related to elephants, sirenians, hyraxes and the extinct desmostylians. Arsinoitheres were rhinoceros-like herbivores that lived during the Late Eocene and the Early Oligocene of North Africa from 36 to 30 million years ago, in areas of tropical rainforest and at the margin of mangrove swamps.

Its most notable feature is a pair of huge horns that were projecting from the top of the nose, followed by another couple of smaller horns.
